The best-selling author Melissa Ambrosini, a well-known meditation teacher, as well as a nutrition expert joins me on Zestology, and would it be wrong to call her a lifestyle guru? She is, she’s extraordinarily successful and you may well have heard of her.

Holy shiitake! It's a special biohacking episode today.

Biohacking is getting the best out of your body and life by adapting your environment, lifestyle and diet. I've been into it for a while though not always calling it biohacking. Biohacking is a weird phrase for some, so if you rather, you could just call it optimising your mind and body.

Sometimes biohacking involves gadgets and tech, sometimes it involves using supplements, sometimes it involves getting back to a more primal state. Sometimes it involves gadgets, tech and supplements to help you get back to or mimic a more primal natural state. 

Yes, yes, I know you just want to get to the shiitake, and trust me it's a great hack.

We'll look at who invented biohacking, and mainly hear from the experts. 

Have an open mind, and play around with some of the techniques and tools in this podcast. You’ll find supplements, gadgets, practices and lots more, so go ahead and start biohacking.

One of the most popular pages on my website for a while has been the hacks page. This podcast is a podcast version of that. I'm considering it as a regular feature, but I'm not sure yet. What do you think? A regular Zest update on what I've been up to, what is making the news, what is popular, what seems to be working for people?

For instance - there's a new hay fever product which seems to be really capturing people's imagination. I've been trying it, others I know have been trying it, and it'd be great to have a regular podcast like this to let you know about it. But maybe not. Let me know what you think.

What even is histamine intolerance? And why should you be concerned by it? Good questions! It's very common, and these questions are answered on this podcast. Dr. Joneja has written 7 books in the area of how we react to food, food allergies and intolerances, and digestive tract reactions to foods. 

Histamine, as you’ll hear, is important, but when the total body level of histamine gets too high, all sorts of odd, unpleasant symptoms can occur, and often, histamine sensitivity and histamine intolerance is not diagnosed, because people don’t know about this stuff. And that might be happening to you now. It certainly was happening to me.

It's not all baby-related now I’m having a baby. But some things transcend parenthood, and this subject is relevant for all. But there is some parenthood stuff in there so if that's not your bag I won't be offended if you quietly wait for next week.

Haemin Sunim is one of the most influential Zen Buddhist teachers and writers in the world. What he offers, is bite-sized buddhism, and it's made him a huge celebrity. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and are great guides not only to mediation but also to overcoming the challenges of everyday life. 

I met him in Central London last week and as you'll hear, he instantly started turning negatives into positives.
