I’m with Sarah Knight on the podcast Zestology this week. Sarah was almost 30 years old when she began to realise it was possible to stop caring so much, but was nearly 40 before she figured out how to make it happen. Now she’s written a uplifting and enjoyable book about it, and she’s on a mission to make all of us care a little bit less.
That’s me too. I could definitely do with caring a bit less about stuff, and so when I heard about her book we connected on Twitter and set up a fun chat. When you hear what she's got planned for the next stage of her life - inspired by the book - you may well be jel.
In today's show, we cover giving up one's job and starting again, planning more low-maintenance weddings and the country Iceland... she doesn't give a monkeys about that either. (Not sure about this one - I love Iceland! :)
Nevertheless, it is very liberating not caring so much about stuff. I'm interested, which is why I wanted to know more. And how...
I’m with Sarah Knight on the podcast Zestology next time. Sarah was almost 30 years old when she began to realise it was possible to stop caring so much, but was nearly 40 before she figured out how to make it happen. Now she’s written a uplifting and enjoyable book about it which is taking the charts by storm, and she’s on a mission to make all of us care a little bit less.
That's next time, on Zestology
When was the last time you truly got outside your comfort zone or just went on a new adventure? How did you feel during it? (Probably a bit terrified.) And afterwards? (Probably a bit awesome.)
Today's blog and podcast is looks at getting outside your comfort zone. (If you'd like to see a video of me getting outside my comfort zone on a hoverboard, scroll down to the bottom of this blog.)
Derek Loudermilk is a former professional cyclist and scientist turned full-time traveler and adventurer. He hosts one of the top rated self-help podcasts, The Art of Adventure and he's with me today on Zestology.
On this show.
Derek and I recorded a double-header podcast over two hours. The first hour I interviewed him for Zestology. The second hour, he interviewed me for his podcast The Art of Adventure. If you want to head straight over and listen to that one then you can click here.
Next time on Zestology;
Today's Zestology guest is a favourite of mine and a fave on the podcast too, Laura Bond. Laura is a health journalist and health coach, and her techniques are cutting edge and fascinating... vitamin C injections, coffee enemas and infrared saunas are par for the course.
Last time we spoke we looked a lot at alternative solutions for better health. This time we look more at the practices you can use to take an already happy and fulfilled life to a new level - finding that extra 5%.
Her book and articles are like a guidebook for anyone who wants to find the edge and take their performance levels up a notch. In addition, she's had a crazy 7 or 8 months since we last met, so there was a lot to catch up on. We walked through Soho and recorded as we walked, ending up sitting on a park bench in Golden Square alongside the pigeons, it was, as always with Laura, a lovely and inspiring day.
Also coming up, we road-test 'hypertonic drinks' (and accidentally spill them on my trousers - sad times.)
Today's podcast is for anyone who's interested in ideas for boosting their energy, vitality and health. Laura's particularly well informed, and her journey since we last spoke is a must listen. Also, 'pets with boobs' make an appearance in today's podcast, and this scary prospect alone should be enough to make you listen.

Find an extra 5%, perform better, and learn the scary truth about dry cleaning with health journalist Laura Bond.
It's a good one, recorded on the scene in London. It's coming this weekend.
An outstanding performance coach and endurance athlete featured this week. This podcast is all about connecting with nature, and getting out into the great outdoors, even when it’s very cold, or very hot. (Note if you are currently enduring a Northern Hemisphere winter, this is a good one for you.)
Endurance athlete and performance coach Anna-Marie Watson has an extraordinary love of the great outdoors. She's completed arctic warfare training with the british military, scaled mountains in Nepal, and last year came second female in the Marathon des Sables, ranked as “toughest footrace on earth”. It's basically six days of running across the Sahara Desert. (I know - sounds horrible!)
But what can we learn from her experience, and what does she work on with her clients?
When most of us think about detoxing for the new year, we only think about giving up the alcohol for a few weeks after a exuberant festive season. But there's more to a proper detox than just throwing those extra bottles of booze away. And if you perhaps got involved in too much turkey, mince pies, and festive spirit over Christmas, you'll enjoy today's show.
At the start of the new year, I've got a true detox expert on Zestology Podcast.
Dr. Dan Pompa coaches many from around the world with what are considered unexplainable illnesses back to health. And he does this, by helping you to detox.
He talks about the epidemic of toxicity (nb, this is more than just too many mince pies over Christmas). And also how do we know if we have some kind of toxicity in our system?

We are all about detoxing.
Dr. Pompa has a compelling story, and his treatments truly work wonders with his clients.
Listen out for the next Zestology, and get your detox on!
It's a New Year special, all based around achieving your goals, setting your goals the right way, and actually getting things done.
Coming up, myself and elite performance coach Dr. Stephen Simpson will answer these questions.
To answer those questions, I've got together on Zestology with my very wise friend Dr. Stephen Simpson for a special start-to-2016 podcast, to discuss the perfect approach to goal setting. You may remember him wearing a very unusual meditation headset as we recorded Zestology episode 19 way back last spring.
